Terms of service

The agreement between Tickus, the organizer selling the ticket and the buyer holding it. It is written to describe what the software actually does, including the parts that are less generous than a ticket site's usual promises.

Last reviewed . Tickus changes; when it does in a way this page describes, the date above changes with it.

1. Who we are, and what these terms cover

Tickus is a service of Kuriolabs Ltd. It gives an organizer a page to sell tickets from, a QR pass to every buyer, and a gate to check those passes at the door. These terms cover that service. They do not cover the event itself, which is the organizer’s, and they do not replace whatever the organizer publishes about their own event.

By buying a ticket, creating an event or scanning at a gate, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

2. If you are organizing an event

Your account

You need an account to list an event: an email address, a password and your name; a company name is optional. Give accurate details, keep the password to yourself, and tell us at once if you think somebody else has your account. What you do from your account is your responsibility.

You must have the right to sell the tickets

By listing an event you confirm that you are entitled to sell tickets for it: that you have the venue, the lineup and the permits the event needs, and that the money you collect reaches the people it is owed to. Do not list an event you cannot legally run, and do not list somebody else’s event without their authority.

The page has to be true

The date, the venue, the ticket types and what each ticket admits are what a buyer relies on. Keep them accurate and update them if something changes. If an event moves or is called off, the buyers who already paid are entitled to know, and the fastest honest route is to cancel the event here so that every buyer is written to.

What listing costs

Listing is free. There is no setup fee, no monthly fee and no charge for check-ins. A processing fee is added to the ticket price at checkout, paid by the buyer, and shown as its own line before payment. You are credited the full ticket price: the fee is never taken out of your revenue.

Getting paid

Money collected for your tickets is held in your Tickus wallet and paid out to the Nigerian bank account you add, through OPay’s banking infrastructure. You are responsible for the account details you enter and for any tax owed on your ticket revenue.

Withdraw only money you have earned. A refund or a cancellation claim is paid out of that held balance, and one your balance cannot cover is refused rather than allowed to overdraw. That is why a claim can fail on an event whose proceeds were already withdrawn. Tickus does not advance the money or stand behind it: a buyer’s refund is a payment you owe them, and where your balance is short the claim waits until it is funded (support can record a transfer you make to us) rather than being paid out of platform funds.

Cancelling an event, and refunds

Cancelling an event does not push money back automatically: a bank transfer needs an account to send it to. What cancelling does is void the unused passes and email every buyer with a still-paid order a personal claim link. The buyer has 90 days from that notice to redeem it, after which the money stays yours. A redeemed claim returns the ticket price to the buyer’s bank account, out of your held balance.

You can also refund a buyer directly from your dashboard. A refund returns the ticket price; Tickus keeps its processing fee, because that fee has already been spent collecting and settling the payment. Redeeming a refund or a claim voids the refunded passes, so the same ticket cannot be sold again and used as well. Refunds and cancellations spells this out for buyers.

Running the gate

Add each usher as an operator and give them the code the dashboard mints. A code is that person’s access: deactivate it when they stop working your events. Each pass is checked in once, and the record of who scanned it is kept as part of the event’s attendance.

Prohibited events and content

Do not use Tickus to sell tickets for an event that is unlawful, or whose content is illegal in Nigeria, or to commit fraud, launder money or evade tax. Do not list another organizer’s event as your own, and do not set prices in order to charge a buyer a fee that was never disclosed. We may suspend an event or an account that we reasonably believe is doing any of this, and we will tell you why.

3. If you are buying a ticket

Who your contract is with

The ticket is sold by the organizer. Your contract for the event itself is with them: they are responsible for holding it, for the venue and the lineup, and for letting you in. Tickus provides the ticket, the checkout and the gate.

The price you see

Before you pay, the checkout shows the ticket price and the processing fee as separate lines and the total you will be charged. That total is what you pay. Prices are in naira.

Your pass is your ticket

A paid order produces a QR pass, delivered by email as a link. That link is the ticket. There is no buyer account, and nothing needs to be installed. Keep it to yourself: a pass admits one entry, and whoever presents it first at the gate is the person it admits. A pass that has already been checked in cannot be used again.

Where the organizer allows it, a ticket can be passed to somebody else: the transfer creates a link for the new holder, and the original pass stops working.

Refunds and a cancelled event

Refunds are the organizer’s decision and are paid by them, not by Tickus. If the event is cancelled, you will receive a claim link by email; it is valid for 90 days and it pays the ticket price back to a bank account you supply. The processing fee is not returned, and the transfer that sends a refund back to you is paid for out of that refund: a flat ₦15 when the organizer cancels the whole event, and otherwise the ordinary money-out fee of 1%, at least ₦65 and at most ₦115 , with no fee at all where that would be the whole refund. Either way it is deducted from what you receive, and a cancellation claim shows it before you submit. Refunds and cancellations has the detail.

Tickus does not guarantee a refund. The money for a ticket is the organizer’s once the sale settles, and a refund is paid from the balance they hold with us. We do not insure it, advance it or pay it from platform funds. If their balance cannot cover your refund, the transfer is not sent, your claim link stays open so you can try again, and the debt remains the organizer’s. This paragraph says who owes you the money; it does not take away a right you have to pursue the organizer under Nigerian law, and we will give you the records we hold (the order, the cancellation and the claim) if you need them.

Nothing here removes your rights

These terms do not take away a right you have under Nigerian consumer law, and nothing in them asks you to give up a claim you are legally entitled to bring.

4. What Tickus is not responsible for

We run the software; we do not run the events. We are not responsible for an event being cancelled, changed, oversold by its organizer, or unsafe, nor for the venue refusing entry. Where an event goes wrong, the organizer owes you the answer, and we will help you reach them.

We work to keep the service available, but it is provided as it is. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the fees Tickus received for the ticket in question.

5. Using the service properly

  • Do not attempt to break, overload or probe the service, or try to read another person’s order, pass or account.
  • Do not copy passes, forge codes or resell tickets outside the transfer feature.
  • Do not use the service to send unsolicited messages or to harass anyone.

A ticket produced by fraud, or a pass that has been copied, can be cancelled without a refund.

6. Ending your use of the service

You may stop using Tickus at any time, and you may ask us to delete your account. What can be deleted, and what has to be kept, is on deleting your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and where money is owed to buyers we will not close an event without telling them how to claim it.

7. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms as the product changes. The date at the top of this page changes with them, and a change that affects money already collected, a live event or an outstanding claim will be announced to organizers by email rather than only posted here.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and a dispute about them belongs in the Nigerian courts.
